About 99 Bricks

The premise of the 99 Bricks game is simple: stack different shaped blocks on top of one-another in the hope of placing 99 bricks down before the tower topples. This free flash game is a marvel in its simplicity. The game features clean graphics and a soothing background soundtrack to round out the relaxing cadence of the game.

The game is controlled by key strokes. The arrow keys direct the block in play from side to side. Rotating the block is down by either pressing the spacebar or the "up" arrow key. Once the block is lined up properly and rotated to the correct orientation, the "down" arrow speeds up the drop. However, it is wise to steer clear of this function, especially later in the game when the tower is more precarious, because a sudden drop of a block can set the whole tower to sway.

In the top right-hand corner of the screen, the next block is shown, allowing players to predict where the best spot for their current shape is, while still accounting for the next one in line. Below this display is the number of blocks left out of the 99 that you have started with.

99 Bricks game possesses a few features that make this more than just some rehashed TETRIS remake. The screen shows vertical stripes that are conveniently one block wide. This makes lining up bricks easier than the usual method of eyeballing the placement. Also, 99 Bricks keeps with the originality by widening the play area, making the base a mere eight blocks wide, but the playing area offers extra space on each side. This makes for a potentially wider base for more adventurous players.

In accordance with the simplicity of the game, the goal is rather to loose, as well. The aim is to stack 99 blocks; however, this does not mean all 99 must be on the base at the end of the game. The score is calculated by the overall height. There are tickers situated on the right and left, both of which measure height, but the right-hand ticker follows the tower, meaning if the tower falls, the ticker does as well. The left-hand ticker tallies the score and remains at the highest level so far in the game. While the blocks continue to be stacked, the game continues.

99 Bricks is a simple, relaxing, and free flash game. The game features an easy goal and pleasant background music, making it a fun game for all different gamer skill levels. After you have had fun playing this game why not try the sequel 99 Bricks: The Legend of Gary.
